Ivf pregnancy is the process for obtaining embryos sexual contact. The eggs are fertilized by sperm in a glass (ivf), outside the body. It is the most efficient treatment of infertility, when all other methods of assisted reproduction have failed.

The Melbourne University team studied the glucose consumption of embryos from the solution in which they grow in the laboratory. They then created a bed of nutrients to the fertilized embryos, from eggs and sperm of couples unable to conceive naturally.
According to Professor Gardner, fertility experts have known the precise amount of glucose in the solution before inserting an embryo. Glucose is the major source of division. It is essential for cell replication that causes the embryo to develop.
“By measuring the glucose level four or five days after fertilization, we can determine how much was consumed by a growing embryo. There is clear evidence that the healthiest embryos absorb more glucose.”
The research involved 50 patients undergoing Ivf pregnancy. Thirty-two women had a positive test for pregnancy after embryo transfer, and 28 babies were born.
“The 28 babies born by IVF embryos were the result of which had the highest absorption of glucose,” said Gardner.
Interestingly, the method can also help predict the sex of the embryo before ivf because female embryos appear to occupy more glucose than males.
The study will be presented at the Fertility Society of Australia Annual Scientific Meeting.
